Men can replace mothers as primary parent

  • by

A study from the Oregon state university conducted in 2014 concluded that single fathers gave as much attention to parenting than mothers.  Fathers and mothers were shown videos of their interactions with their children while their brain was scanned.  They found that men had the same emotional response than women when looking at their offspring. Furthermore, scientists were able to see that in their brain, the regions linked to critical thinking that is inherent to fathers was still activated when there were emotionally moved by seeing their offspring. In other words, men are able to be both mother and father at the same time when they are on their own raising a child. Scientists also understood that this maternal activity in fathers’ brain was disabled when the mother was close to the father.
